TAKE HOLD OF EVERY MOMENT

I’m not normally a fan of these chain-emails, but this one from a friend of mine made me stop in my tracks: (edited)

TAKE HOLD OF EVERY MOMENT
A friend of mine opened his wife’s underwear drawer and picked up a silk paper wrapped package:

“This, - he said - isn’t any ordinary package.”
He unwrapped the box and stared at both the silk paper and the box.

“She got this the first time we went to New York, 8 or 9 years ago. She has never put it on. Was saving it for a special occasion.

Well, I guess this is it. He got near the bed and placed the gift box next to the other clothings he was taking to the funeral house, his wife had just died. He turned to me and said:

“Never save something for a special occasion. Every day in your life is a special occasion”.

I still think those words changed my life.
Now I read more and clean less.
I sit on the porch without worrying about anything.
I spend more time with my family, and less at work.

I understood that life should be a source of experience to be lived up to, not survived through. I no longer keep anything. I use crystal glasses every day. I’ll wear new clothes to go to the supermarket, if i feel like it.

I don’t save my special perfume for special occasions, I use it whenever I want to. The words “Someday…” and “One Day…” are fading away from my dictionary. If it’s worth seeing, listening or doing, I want to see, listen or do it now. I don’t know what my friend’s wife would have done if she knew she wouldn’t be there the next morning, this nobody can tell. I think she might have called her relatives and closest friends.

She might call old friends to make peace over past quarrels. I’d like to think she would go out for Chinese, her favourite food. It’s these small things that I would regret not doing, if I knew my time had come.

I would regret it, because I would no longer see the friends I would meet, letters… letters that i wanted to write “One of this days”.

I would regret and feel sad, because I didn’t say to my brothers and sons, not times enough at least, how much I love them.

Now, I try not to delay, postpone or keep anything that could bring laughter and joy into our lives.

And, on each morning, I say to myself that this could be a special day.
Each day, each hour, each minute, is special.

If you got this, it’s because someone cares for you and because, probably, there’s someone you care about.

If you’re too busy to send this out to other people and you say to yourself that you will send it “One of these days”, remember that “One day” is far away… or might never come…

This TANTRA came from India. No matter if you’re superstitious or not, spend some time reading it.

Love yourself! Love Exams!

Don’t we just love exams! Earlier I was listening to Classic FM, as I always seem to do when I’m revising, and nearly every single over the air request from listeners were from students doing exams. Can’t get away from talk about exams.

On another note the Counter.com are ceasing their free web site counter services at the end of July. If any webmasters can recommend a good alternative, I would appreciate it. Coleman Web has had record breaking numbers visiting the site in the last month and I thank those regular visitors.

Updates to the bulk of the site are on hold until after the 6th June 2003. I will be updating this page when I can during the non update period, basically as I can easily post via a public computer.

If your a UK Digital Terrestrial viewer in the UK with an old ITV/ON box, performing a channel update will add three radio stations and a new channel to your already top-noch line-up from Freeview.

Well, that’s about it for now.
Anthony :-)

Exams and Old Dos-Games

Well, it seems I’ve got myself into a complete and utter mess with my studies. Luckly, the solution was right in front of me. Unfortunately, it took me the best part of three months to find it.

On the website front I’ve got Blogger Pro doing a great job. They just released a new version, which has been completely redesigned and works great with my site. The last version had a way of skewing html code, which messed up my site. I’ve integrated it right into the main home page. The archives are also back up for you to access. I’ll be introducing a comments system this summer, which are quite popular on other personal web sites.

I’ll be starting my revision for exams in due course. I have four exams this summer, all in the first week of June. Two I will be fine in, one I’m not too sure about yet and the other seems to be a lost cause at the moment.

I don’t have time to update the site at the moment, but if you have trouble getting the sound to work on with your old DOS-based games with your Windows operating system, I suggest you have a look at VDMSound. Its a great little program which is simple to use. I’ve managed to get several games working with Windows XP, which I had thought I would have to set up a seperate partition with DOS or an earlier version of the Windows operating system on to get them to work. I’ve managed to get Blake Stone: Aliens of Gold, Star Trek: 25th anniversary, Ultimate Soccer Manager and a few others to work. Check out the URL to visit the home of VDMSound. Best of all, it’s FREE!
