… and the rest of the day

Bit too hot for my liking today. I ventured out this
morning for breakfast, spent from 11am to 2pm online
and in my room reading, only to go out and find it
unberable. I staggered to a nice little spanish
restaraunt for lunch and then decided to escape to the
cinema and watch star wars (which was actually good
compared to the last one I saw: Episode 1). Trailers must
have been on for 45 mins though. At least it was
air-conditioned. It’s cooled down now and I’ve
returned from another trip to McDonalds; Need to watch
that I don’t go too often.

From where I am staying when you go to the front of
the building you can see the CN tower very clearly as
well as most of the central city skyline. Round the
corner from me is the Royal Orotino Museum (ROM) which
I’d like to visit. Unfortunatley its $15 but they have
a free viewing period on a Friday evening which I’ll
try to take advantage off. There is also something
called Philosophers Walk which I must have walked past
several times but failed to notice. Don’t think its
signposted but it’s definatly on the map.

It’s a shame I don’t have a digital camera so I could
upload some pictures for all to see, but even if I had
one it would not work with the current set up of me
using these public computers. I’ll try to find some
general shots on the net and post a few onto the website.

Local time now is 19:36

Breakfast

Just been for breakfast at McDonalds. I’ve got to
remember that they charge tax after the advertised
price, unlike in the UK. It’s about 10/15c tax added
on to every dollar, which can amount to quite a bit. I
might be able to claim some back, but I won’t find out
about that until tomorrow. I had Hotcakes and sausuage
with a sprite. It’s a shame I don’t like coffee as
thats a lot cheaper than sprite as it’s on offer. Cost
$5.15 which is about 2.60 your money. (I dont have a
pound sign on this keyboard!)

Weekend

Yesterday had a Big Mac at McDonalds for lunch, and
after walking for miles trying to find a eating market
which had been suggested to me, I settled for a
chinese restaraunt called ‘Good Morning Vietnam’ and
had Seafood and noodles. It was very good (and big)
and cost only $8.50 (4 pounds). After turning out of a
chemist and turning the wrong way I found myself 2
miles in the wrong direction!

This morning went out for breakfast, as breakfast is
only available weekdays at the place I am staying. Had
a English Breakfast and a lemonade. The cost came up
to $13!. Don’t think I’ll be going there again,
expecially when McDonalds to breakfasts for $2.99. It
was very good though.

I’m now going to take a break and read my book or
something. It’s a lot cooler today and it is quite
cloudy. Thank you for all your emails.

Summary of first night.

Hi

Just had a good nights sleep and up at 7.30 am for a
cooked breakfast which was very good. I’m taking
things slow at the moment as I am going to give myself
time to adjust to the climate. Its warm but its very
muggey all the time. Cooled down over night but its
already muggey now.

The waiting at the airpoort yesterday was annoying,
mainly due to the lack of information. The flight was
delayed by about four and a half hours. After arriving
by a on-time train from Southport, this was a
annoying, The flight itself was supurb and I cannot
fault the service - once we were in the air that is. 2
meals, 4 cups of tea, 2 glasses of wine, 2 films and a
documentery about Canada. Lets just say that there
where long queues for the toilets. Had no trouble at
the airport, turns out the official I had to speak to
lived in Bolton for many years, but had no idea about
Wigan Athletic existing or it’s premership promotion.

Arrived at accomodation at about 6.30pm I think. Can’t
remember so well as was very tired. Accomodation is
good, got the basics, but it’s very big : about the
size of your living room and kitchen added together!
Just got nothing to fill it with!

Well I’m going to return to my room now and do a bit
of exploring after rush hour.
