Quiet Day

Well I’ve had a quiet day today watching some TV, reading my book, time online and some final touches to my planned itinerary for the remainder of my time here in Canada.

This morning saw a nice cool wind with the rain, but yet again the heat and humidity return :-(

Fort York

Yesterday I visited Fort York in downtown Toronto and had a very enjoyable afternoon looking around the museum exhibits and watching some of the reinactments of British military routines from well over 100 years ago.

Here is the website for the museum:

A common thread in my posts is references to the heat and humidity here in Toronto. Yet again the heat and sun got the best of me and after returning from my one hour return trip on foot from the fort I really did not feel at all well.

Heat Wave

Well hopefully today the heatwave that has hit Southen Ontario in Canada for the last several days might reduce in intensity. Its still very warm now but it is forecast for thunderstorms in Toronto today and I hope that cools things down. I’ve been here since the start of June and it has only rained on three occasions. Last week the humidex index hit 42.0 degrees Celsius and there where severe heat warnings for a few days. Today its 35.0 degrees Celsius on the humidex index.

Well with the heat and all I’ve not been up to much. Having no air conditioning in my room has meant several sleepless nights and my restored sleeping pattern being destroyed. The building I am staying in was designed with the harsh Canadian winter in mind, so it tend to retain the heat. I’ve used the time to do some work for my university resit exam in September, to work on one of my neglected website projects for a SETI@Home team and to keep as cool as possible.

Monday’s Happenings

Yesterday after getting up at 0645hrs in an attempt to get my sleeping pattern back to normal, I spent a few hours at the University of Toronto on some paid work. I then made the ferry crossing over to the Toronto Islands where it was nice and cool with a nice breeze. In the city yesterday it was about 32 degrees c but with the humidity taken into account it was more like 40 degrees c. I’ve taken some more pictures but I won’t be getting them online until next month when I have them developed (Yes, I am using a film camera)
