Help Nigeria tackle poverty

Demand that Britain returns 1.7 billion it is taking from Nigeria as
part of a debt-cancellation deal, so that the money can be used to tackle poverty in Nigeria.

Oxfam - Email Gordon Brown

Dear Gordon Brown,
In 2005 you worked hard to put Africa at the centre of the global agenda.

I urge you to make a good start to the New Year by returning the 1.7 billion you are taking from Nigeria as part of its debt cancellation deal.

I am appalled that while two-thirds of Nigerias people survive on less than 60p a day, the UK government is still claiming this debt.

Nigeria has committed to spend all the money it saves from debt cancellation directly on things that will reduce poverty. Please ensure the UK returns the 1.7 billion to Nigeria immediately so that it can be used to send children to school and to provide health care to millions of people.
